The Kell Fire Protection District has put a burn ban into effect following another controlled burn getting out of hand on Thursday.

Kell Fire Chief Lonnie McDaneld says the burn ban will remain in effect until there is some rain to address the extremely dry conditions.

The fire Thursday afternoon was on the Jeff Dahlquist property at 11-50 Medlin Road in rural Centralia.   He was burning sawdust when the strong winds whipped the flames into a bean stubble field.  During the initial call, the fire burned two to three acres.   Firemen were successful in keeping the fire from spreading to a standing bean field.   The original fire call came in at 12:17, with firemen on the scene until 1:45 pm.

Firemen were called back to a rekindle at 2:06 and spent another two hours putting out the blaze that had burned in a different direction and covered another two acres of bean stubble.

The Kell Fire District has had several controlled burns get out of hand during the past week.
