The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that the right northbound lane of I-57 a mile south of the US 50 interchange in Salem will be closed to traffic from seven am to as long as 3:30 on Thursday.
The closure is necessary so pavement patching can be completed in the area.
All entrance and exit ramps will remain open during construction.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. You may want to consider an optional route. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
