Salem’s Jairen Stroud finished the first round at Weibring at the 2a State Tournament with a 76 which is tied for 16th overall and 4 shots back of the leader. Tough conditions with a 1-over par 72 leading the field on a cold and windy day. Stroud will compete in the 2a finals today.
Salem junior Makinzie Mann competed at the IHSA state girls 1a golf tournament yesterday, she finished her year with a 101 and a 91st place finish and did not advance to today’s finals. Centralia’s Chananya Domethong is 7th overall as she shot a 75 and is 6 shots back of Ella Greenberg of Boylan Catholic and Mt Carmel’s Madelyn Young.
In boys Class 1a, Christ Our Rock junior Parker Boehne leads the tournament field heading into the final day.
