The middle school baseball and softball season in SIJHSAA finished up yesterday with the state trophy games.
In Class L baseball at Centralia, Harrisburg finished their dominant run at the tournament with a 14-6 win over O’Fallon Fulton to win the title. DuQuoin knocked off Millstadt 9-4 in the 3rd place game.
In Class M baseball at Herrin, Smithton is the state champ after their 4-2 win over Hardin County. Sesser Valier won the 3rd place game over St James ICC 9-4.
In Class S baseball at Coulterville, Woodlawn is the state champs after their 3-1 win over Holy Childhood Mascoutah. St John’s Lutheran Red Bud won the 3rd place game over Galatia 17-5.
In Class L softball, Carterville shutout Marion 4-0 to win another state title with DuQuoin taking 3rd over Mt Carmel 4-3.
In Class M softball, Johnston City beat Nashville in the title game 2-1, Albion nipped Smithton 11-10 in the 3rd place game.
In Class S, Okawville beat Jonesboro 5-3 in the championship. St John Catholic Red Bud beat Woodlawn 3-0 in the 3rd place game.
