The City of Wamac has approved golf carts and side by sides to be driven on city streets.
Mayor Butch Mathus says the ordinance will not take effect for 30 days. Those who want to use the vehicles will have to have them inspected and licensed by the Wamac Police Department. He reports Police Chief Steve Prather will be developing the licensing procedure which will be announced in the near future. Mathus says the only road the golf carts and side-by-sides will not be allowed is US 51 since it is a state highway.
The Wamac Board set trick or treat for Friday night, October 28th, from six to eight pm for those 12 and under.
Mathus reported he is still working to obtain the grant that would pay for a large part of the cost of a west side tornado warning siren.
