The Franklin Park baseball and softball teams will open up SIJHSAA State play today at Rotary Park in Centralia. The Lady Cats will open at 11 against Marion with the winner playing in the semifinals against the 10am winner between DuQuoin and Mascoutah. The other quarterfinal games will see Carterville and Waterloo play at noon and Mt Carmel and Wolf Branch at 1.
The Bobcats enter at 20-5 and will open at 1pm at Rotary Field against undefeated Harrisburg. The winner will play Tuesday at 3 against either DuQuoin or Highland who play at noon today. The day begins with Carterville and Millstadt at 10 and Flora and O’Fallon Fulton at 11.
In Class M Baseball state action at 9:30 it’s Nashville and Sesser Valier followed at 11:30 by Hardin County and Albion. Johnston City and Smithton play at 1:30 and St James and Marissa at 3:30.
In Class S Baseball at 9:30 it’s Our Lady of Mount Carmel taking on St John’s Lutheran Red Bud followed by St Joe Olney and Holy Childhood Mascoutah at 11:30. Lick Creek plays Galatia at 1:30 and then Altamont Lutheran and Woodlawn at 3:30.
In Class S Softball today, Jonesboro and Crab Orchard play at 9:30, Woodlawn and Trinity/St Mary’s at 11:30, St John Catholic Red Bud and Elverado at 1:30 and then West Salem and Okawville at 3:30.
In Class M Softball, Johnston City and Sparta Lincoln play at 9:30, Smithton and Breese at 11:30, Nashville and Pinckneyville at 1:30 and then Goreville and Albion at 3:30.
