The Kaskaskia College cross teams traveled to Normal, IL for the Heartland Jucco Invitational. There were a total of 6 community colleges present for the meet held on the course in Maxwell Park. Of the 6 teams 4 were nationally ranked.
The 18th ranked KC Blue Angels finished 3rd overall with a point total of 77 points. The meet was won by the DII 4th ranked Heartland Hawks with 18 points with the DIII 3rd ranked Joliet College placing 2nd with 58 points. The Blue Angels were led by Chloe Tepe with a 13th place finish in a time of 22:03, Brooklynn McAllister was 17th in a time of 22:41 followed by Cayla Krueger in 18th in a time of 22:45. Grace Lauer was 23rd in 23:10 and Cindy Synder in 23:45.
The men’s 8K was won by NJCAA DII nationally ranked Heartland Hawks with 20 points. Joliet College nationally ranked 3rd in DIII was second, followed by Carl Sandberg that are ranked 10th in DII. The KC Blue Devils were 4th in the meet. The KC men were led by Ty Reynolds placing 17th in a time of 28:02, Nick Fehr finished 22 in a time of 28:34. Caleb Klein was 3oth in 29:27, Nick Zwilling in 29:34. Sam Britt was the 5th counter in 30:08 with Christian Rees the 7th runner for KC in a time of 31:18.
“This was a tough race for both teams but I thought we battled and showed improvement on both teams,” said coach Mike Hargis.
