The Odin Village Board has voted to raise the cost of trash collection from $10 to $12 a month.
The action came at a special meeting held Thursday night.
Village Clerk Susan Gordon notes Odin just passes along the rate charged by their collector DBS, which raised their rates as a result of increasing costs. As part of the increase, DBS will begin supplying large garbage containers that residents will be required to use. Those who have enough trash to require a second tote will be charged an additional $6 a month. The rate increase will take effect with the October bill. The use of the mandatory totes will begin around the first of the year.
The board also discussed the need to raise water and sewer rates, but took no action until more information is available on increased costs the village will be facing in operating those two departments.
