The boys golf post season opened up yesterday. Salem competed at the 2a Regionals at The Orchards in Mascoutah. The Cats were 4th as a team with a 339. Althoff won the event with a 312, Waterloo 331 and Mater Dei 333. Centralia finished 7th shooting 356.
Individually for Salem, Cale Harris and Jairen Stroud shot 82s to advance to the Sectionals at Acorns Golf Links in Waterloo on Monday. Logan Lockhart shot 86 and won a 3-way tie in sudden death playoff to also advance to Sectionals. Also scoring for Salem but failing to advance were Matt Slover and Hunter Russell who shot 89s and Brogan Gregg shot a 97.
Down at Carbondale, Benton won the regional and advances along with Carterville and Massac County. Mt Vernon was 7th as a team. The Rams Riley Tompkins did advance with an 85.
