Franklin Park Beats Centralia, Next Stop Regional Finals
The Franklin Park Bobcats are 19-5 and into the Region 8 Class L championship after a 10-1 win over Centralia yesterday at Rotary Field. The game was close, 4-1 until the sixth when the Bobcats would plate 6 runs. Evan Barnes was the winning pitcher going 6 innings allowing 2 hits and 1 run with 6 strikeouts and 4 walks. Payton Gullion struck out a pair in the final inning of relief and did not allow a hit. At the plate, Kyler King doubled going 3-4 with an RBI and 3 runs scored, Evan Barnes added an RBI triple. Keytin Grawe, Payton Gullion and Jaret Gibson also drove in runs. Avery Gullion singled and scored, Scout Puricelli added a run, Landon Tennyson singled off the bench and Landon Maxey walked twice. Salem will take on Wesclin in tomorrow’s 4:15 title game after their 19-0 win over Casey Mt Vernon.
Iuka Advances With Regional Win Over Raccoon/Kell
In Class S regional play, Iuka knocked off Raccoon/Kell 9-2 scoring 7 runs in the 5th inning to pull away. Damon Jennings and Landon White had 2 hits with a double and RBI while White struck out 8 in six innings as the starting pitcher. Kaden Cripps singled twice and drove in a run with RBI also from Zack Watson, Trygg Aaron, Kurt Sullens with Robbie Petrea driving in 2. For Raccoon/Kell Michael Organ pitched well going 4.2 allowing 0 runs and 0 hits with 11 strikeouts. John Organ, Drake Rector, Alton Davis and Aidan Hernandez all had Raccoon hits. Iuka will play Altamont Lutheran in semifinal play tomorrow.
