While they are already on the job, the formal swearing-in for Salem’s new Police Chief Kyle Ambuehl and Sergeant Tyler Rose is scheduled to take place at Tuesday night’s city council meeting.
The regular Monday night meeting is being delayed by a night due to the Labor Day Holiday.
The council will be asked to further review and possibly take action on the city’s revised ‘Cemetery’ ordinance for the operation of East Lawn Cemetery. The changes will limit some decorations and provide for small rate increases.
The council will once again be asked to levy a 0.02-percent property tax levy in the coming year for building maintenance and equipment needs at the Bryan Bennett Library.
The council will receive its annual Audit report from CPA firm of Fick, Eggemeyer, and Williamson.
City Manager Rex Barbee is recommending the renewal of an agreement with Affordable Gas and Electric to allow them to seek bids for electric services to city facilities and street lighting at a more competitive price than the open market.
The council will be asked to recommend approval to surplus and seek the sale of the commemorative marker dedicating the Bi-Centennial Plaza from 1976 due to the sale of the plaza property.
The council meeting gets underway at six Tuesday night at Salem City Hall. There will be a short meet and greet for new Police Chief Kyle Ambuehl at city hall beginning at 5:30 Tuesday evening.
