A home in Junction City was gutted by fire Monday night.
Sandoval Fire Chief Chad Parson says the home at 1205 Madison Street is owned by Don Murray of Centralia and was rented to Kevin Bushue.
Parson said Bushue had been home 15 to 20 minutes when he heard a bang and saw fire all around the back door near where a freezer was located.
When firemen arrived, heavy flames were showing from the south end of the home and there was venting through the windows. Parson said the fire went through the roof and while the outside walls are standing most of the inside of the home is gutted. Firemen had to shuttle some water to the scene in the firefighting effort.
He reports while the cause of the fire has not been determined there was nothing suspicious. The State Fire Marshal’s office did review the fire scene Tuesday morning.
Bushue got out of the home safely and there were no firefighter injuries.
The fire call came in at 8:15 Monday night with firemen on the scene for three to three and a half hours. Odin and the Centralia Fire Protection District were called to the scene for mutual aid while the Centralia City Fire Department stood by at the Sandoval station in the event of another fire.
