A 32-year-old Centralia man has been formally charged in Marion County Court with aggravated battery to a police officer and resisting or obstructing a police officer.
Justin McMath of Marquis Drive is accused in the aggravated battery charge to spitting on a Centralia Police Officer. The resisting charge accuses him of trying to pull away while being handcuffed.
Centralia Police say they stopped McMath while he was riding a bike last Friday morning at Kerr and Sycamore. Police initially tried to take him into custody on an outstanding traffic warrant.
Bond is set at $7,500. McMath had the public defender appointed to represent him.
