Marion County Fair Board President Doug Telford is pleased with the just completed fair.   He says overall it was a ‘very good fair’.

“We dodged a lot of weather but we were able to put on every grandstand attraction we had this week.  We had good crowds participate in all our attractions.  I once again want to thank the community and local businesses for supporting the Marion County Fair.  Hopefully we can build on this year and move forward and have a better, more successful year next year.”

Telford says a good crowd even stuck around for the rodeo after a severe thunderstorm rolled through at starting time.  The entire event was held starting about an hour and 15 minutes late.

The Demolition Derby Friday night sold out the grandstand and the midway was full as food vendors were challenged to keep up with the crowd.

The first visit by the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League also was a crowd pleaser.

Telford says initial reports from the carnival operator was they were also happy, but admits it is hard to compare to last year when COVID restrictions had just been lifted and most had COVID relief money to spend.

Telford thinks they have a strong grandstand line up, but won’t make a final decision on next year’s fair line up for several months.
