Linda Lou May, age 72 of Carlyle, passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia on Sunday, November 1, 2026.
Mrs. May was born in Alton, Illinois on May 29, 1954, a daughter of Margaret J. (Adams) and Maurice H. Harris, Sr. She married John E. May on June 12, 1976, and he preceded her in death on February 8, 2016.
Linda is survived by her children – Linda Lacey, Betty Jason, Pamela Linder and husband Rich, Andrew Dennison, Johnny May, Mechelle Edmiston and husband Tim, Wayne May, Becky May, Jason May and wife Crystal, and Margaret Richardson and husband Brad; 25 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters – Thresa Kennedy and Anita Gibson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 grandchildren – Angel Lacey, Zale May, and Christopher May; and a brother, Pat Dennison.
Linda dedicated nearly 40 years of her life to working in healthcare, including 15 years at Carlyle Healthcare Center. She had a special appreciation for Native American culture and enjoyed spending her free time reading romance novels, quilting, sewing, and cross-stitching.
In accordance with Linda’s wishes, cremation will take place and services will be held privately with her family.
