A 29-year-old Amish teacher who was taking two students to school Tuesday morning was killed when her Amish buggy collided with an SUV on the Route 161 Extension west of Johnsonville in Wayne County.
The Wayne County Coroner pronounced Rebecca Esh dead at the scene. She will be taken to Maryland for burial near her family.
State Police say the two students were airlifted by medical helicopter to an Evansville, Indiana hospital for treatment of injuries.
State Police have not released any details on how the crash occurred or the name of the driver of the SUV.
The crash occurred at 7:49 Tuesday morning. Traffic on the Route 161 Extension was blocked until early afternoon.
