Salem Community High School Superintendent Dr. Brad Detering says over 200 parents called their students out of class after a written message was found on a bathroom wall Tuesday afternoon threatening a Wednesday shooting at the school.
Detering says the investigation into who left the note in the bathroom continued Wednesday, but investigators have found no leads. Students seen on camera entering the bathroom were questioned, but none could say who may have placed the note. The school is asking anyone with information to come forward so the issue can be addressed.
Detering says officers from the Salem Police Department and Marion County Sheriff’s Department joined school administrators at each outside door to look for unusual activity as the school day began, but saw none.
Deterring notes parents have five days each semester they can call out their students without giving a reason. Those absences are excused.
