Marion County Building Committee Chair Deb Reed told the county board Tuesday night work has resumed to clear the county parking lot in the 200 block of North Broadway of any environmental concerns.
Board Chair Steve Whritenour says once that happens improvements will be made.
“They’re pulling the core samples in November. We were approved for that project several years ago. For some reason, that project stopped. We got that project going again. They’re going to pull those core samples out and then hopefully determine that everything’s good. Then we can at least rock the parking lot and make some improvements to it for additional parking here for the courthouse.”
The board had earlier sought a grant to construct a paved parking lot but was not funded by the state.
