Sally “Joan” Jones (Robinson) went home to her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 16th, 2026, leaving behind her earthly residence in O’Fallon, IL at Keystone at Richland Creek. Her final days were spent surrounded by her loving family, enjoying stories of her favorite memories.
Joan was born on May 18th, 1934, to Dallas and Essie Robinson (Boster). While her parents were employed as a railroad worker and elementary school teacher, their most important job was instilling a love of Christ within their children, Joan and her younger brother P. David. Growing up, Joan enjoyed spending time with her family, taking trips to Northern Illinois to visit her Uncle Wally, and could often be found tending to her first love: cats and kittens. This love would sustain her for years until she found the love of her life, Don Jones. Soulmates from the start, Don knew he needed to act fast as Joan had many suitors in line. They would elope to Corinth, MS on October 17, 1953 (much to the chagrin of Essie) and share 67 years of the same birthday and anniversaries together. Their love for one another and their shared love of God, Family, and Country (in that order) is admired by many.
Joan was a homemaker and a journeywoman all in one. She took great pride in all of her endeavors and kept a home that could have been in one of her Better Homes & Gardens magazines, even when money was tight. She kept steady work while supporting Don’s career, serving as a telephone operator, post office worker, florist associate, and chiropractic secretary. Though she would never claim it, she was artistically gifted, including musical talents on the piano taught by her mother, and could master any craft put in front of her, from ceramics to painting. She was also gifted with a knack for fashion, and was always up to date with current clothing, hair, and makeup styles. Joan was a trendsetter.
While she was talented in many ways, her greatest gift was the love she showed for her family. From her excellent cooking and baking, to hosting family gatherings, her passion was to bring together those whom she loved. This love extended to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. There was never a doubt of Joan’s love, as she always openly vocalized it and provided a warm hug with an extra squeeze. Her love continued to extend throughout her life, reaching those who cared for her during her final years, making her a grandmother to many who were not blood relatives.
She was preceded in death by: Parents Dallas and Essie Robinson (Boster). Husband of 67 years, Donald Jones. Surviving are: Brother P. David (Jill) Robinson. Children Randy (Jean) and Brad (Chris) Jones, and Lisa Guilliams. Grandchildren, Kyle (Tiffany) Jones, Kayley Wilhelm, Sydney (David) Wray, and Kirsten Guilliams. Great-grandchildren Abram, Nora, and Rowan Wilhelm and Isabella Jones. Nephew Michael (Kristen) Robinson. Her caregivers at Keystone at Richland Creek who loved, cared for, and learned from her.
