The three-person electoral board has now been selected to hear the seven objections to the nomination of Anthony Decker to be the Republican Party’s nominee for sheriff.
They are the Chief Deputy County Clerk Kim Burroughs, Circuit Clerk Tiffany Schicker, and Assistant State’s Attorney Ryan Martin. Burroughs was the designee of County Clerk Steve Fox, who is at a statewide conference. Martin was the designee of State’s Attorney Tim Hudspeth, who recused himself after conversations with Decker about running for sheriff. County Treasurer Gary Purcell, who had been named a replacement member earlier, was concerned about serving because he lacked knowledge of election law.
All the hearings are public and will be held in the large third-story courtroom
The schedule for hearing the complaints has also been released. The first half hour of each session is for the objector to state their complaint. County Clerk Steve Fox says the electoral committee will decide how and when they will release their decisions after hearing the objections.
