State Police say one person was hurt when a van collided with a semi trailer on U.S. 51 at East Lair in Vernon Tuesday afternoon.
Preliminary investigation indicates the van was traveling northbound on US 51 directly behind the semi. The semi was in the process of turning east onto East Lair Street. Police say the van failed to reduce speed and struck the semi and became fully engulfed by fire.
The driver of the van was taken by Sandoval ambulance to Salem Township Hospital for treatment of injuries. A passenger in the van and the truck driver escaped injury.
Patoka Firemen were called to put out the vehicle fire.
The crash occurred at 2:13 Monday afternoon.
