Gregory (Greg) Alan Wiehle, 65, of Centralia died on August 11, 2026, at Good Samaritan Hospital surrounded by a loving family who fought hard alongside him.

Greg was born on Feb. 26, 1961, in Salem, Illinois, to LeRoy and Stella (Altgilbers) Wiehle. He grew up in Iuka, Illinois, on a family farm and trucking business, where he first met his wife, Darla. He was too shy to ask her out, so she took charge; it was a theme that continued for 44 years.

He missed what his family considered his true calling as a teacher to work for a local oil and gas company for 40+ years, but he found ways to teach the people around him every day. He taught Sunday School in his hometown church, Iuka Methodist, and coached Iuka Pirate grade school basketball before relocating to Centralia. Greg took great pride in teaching his young warehouse employees lessons that transcended work. He taught his children how to drive, the importance of being true to your word, how there was always time for a game of HORSE with the neighborhood kids when a hoop was nearby, and that there wasn’t a process you couldn’t lightly overengineer with the right motivation. (If anyone needed to know the date and mileage of his last 15 oil changes, he had the notebook documentation.)

Over the last six months, he taught those around him how to face a hard prognosis with courage, dignity and grace. He left this world unafraid, comforted by his deep faith.

Greg was thoughtful in every sense of the word. He loved playing and watching basketball, working with his hands and spending time at the family farm. He was happiest hearing his family and friends laugh and have a good time. He will be fiercely, forever missed.

He is survived by his wife, Darla (Mason) Wiehle; daughter Ashley Wiehle-Fram and husband George of Ballwin, Missouri; son Cole Wiehle and wife Erica of Iuka; granddaughter Evanelle Wiehle of Iuka; mother, Stella Wiehle of Iuka; brothers Kevin Wiehle and wife Dana of Tallahassee, Florida, and Kent Wiehle and wife Sharon of Iuka; nephews, nieces, granddogs; and deeply loved church family at Greenview Christian Church in Centralia.

He was preceded in death by his father, LeRoy Wiehle, and his parents-in-law Walker and Nellie Mason, who loved him like a son.

Services for Gregory Alan Wiehle will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at Greenview Christian Church in Centralia with John Klockenga and Jim Williams officiating.   There will be a time to visit with the family on Friday at the church from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
