Debra K. Bloemker, 69, of Madison, Alabama, formerly of Centralia, Illinois, passed away on July 7, 2026.

Debbie was born September 29, 1956, in Highland, Illinois, to Kenneth Eugene and Sally May Kapp. She grew up in Centralia, IL, and graduated from Centralia High School in 1974. On June 14, 1974, she married Steve Bloemker, and together they shared 52 years of marriage.

Debbie spent most of her life in Centralia, Illinois, before moving to Alabama. She loved gardening and working with flowers and had a lifelong love of horses and horseback riding. She enjoyed riding her bike and looked forward to watching the Tour de France every year.  She loved to cook and experiment with new recipes, and had a creative streak that showed itself in drawing, painting, and all sorts of arts and crafts. She spent time learning to play guitar, writing songs, and other poetry. Debbie loved to travel, especially to Florida, and had a particular fondness for the beach.

Debbie is survived by her husband, Steve Bloemker; her two children, Andrew Bloemker (Mandi) of Effingham, Illinois, and Sarah Brewer (Shea) of Madison, Alabama; and her five grandchildren, Ethan Brewer, Soren Bloemker, Tinley Bloemker, Milam Bloemker, and Quincy Bloemker.

She is also survived by her siblings, Karen Richardson (Donnie), Leanne West (Joe), Roger Kapp (Tammy), and Eric Kapp (Tracy), and her sister-in-law, Tammy Kapp, wife of the late Bruce Kapp; along with her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Betty Bloemker.

Debbie was also a beloved companion to her pets —Her cats Katabo and Marisol and her dog, Tatoo.

In the words of her husband, “She was the love of my life.”

A memorial service will be held at Christ’s Church of Effingham in Effingham, IL, on August 8th at 10 am.
