The village of Sandoval will have to wait until next year to be eligible for an Illinois EPA loan forgiveness program for sewer system improvements. Village Administrator LeAnn Spicer says all of the necessary paper work was filed to be considered for this year's grant program, but a letter asking to be scored was dated too early. She notes the delay might actually be a positive because of all the other projects the village currently has underway.

Spicer says they will be ready for next year. She reports if the competition is similar, they would score well enough to be selected.

The board was told OSHA required improvements at village work places was continuing, with the total cost of the work expected to be around $15,000.

The board was reminded water rates would go up three percent on July first as part of the automatic water rate adjustment passed last year by the village board.

The village board will review two applications for business improvement projects in the tax increment financing district at its July meeting. Serenity Pass is wanting to make improvement to their current building as well as purchase the vacant Taylor Maid building next door for an expansion. Crossroads Tavern is wanting TIF assistance to renovate its building and make parking lot improvements.
