The North Clay Cardinals finished their baseball season with a win as they defeated Jacksonville Routt 10-0 in five innings in Champaign to bring home the 3rd place trophy in Class 1a. Jack Compton was outstanding on the mound. At the plate, Trenton Ingram went 4-4 with a run and 2 RBI. Cody
Zimdars drove in 3 runs and Ben Czyzewski and Compton had 2 RBI each. Tremont won the 1a title game easily over Putnam County 10-0 in five innings. Tremont was ranked #1 heading into the post season according to Max Preps and finished the year with the state title.
Freeburg lost in the 2a 3rd place game to Ottawa Marquette 4-1. Jonathan Barlow paced the Freeburg offense going 3-3 driving in the lone run. Cohen Merrill took the loss.
St Joseph Ogden cruised to the 2a championship with a 15-1, five inning win over Harvest Christian Academy.
Triad fell to St Rita in the 3a state championship game in 8 innings on a walk-off sacrifice fly in foul territory in the final at bat. The game featured 23 runs and offensive fireworks on both sides.
The Salem 13u went 3-1 on the day and knocked off the SV Storm in the championship game of the Sesser One Day Tournament. Nolan Krutsinger had 2 doubles including the game breaking 3 run double in the last inning and drove in 4 runs in the game. Jacob Butts had an RBI single and Isaac Knapp scored twice and drove in a run along with Izac Holsapple. Weston Crouse singled and scored. Maxen Tiemann started the game on the mound with Brantley Brumfield getting the win in relief. Salem travel season ends at 22-9.
