The Centralia City Schools Board recognized four district retirees at the regular board meeting on Tuesday and thanked them for their years of service: Diane Rush, 35 years of service, Cinnamon Blanchard, 22 years of service, Tracy DeVore, 17 years of service, and Tamara McClelland, 14 years of service.

In the superintendent’s report, Christina Becker provided end-of-year enrollment and discipline numbers. Total enrollment is 999 students, including those attending Bridges, Menta, and other placements. The overall number of suspensions for the school year was 240, which Becker said was similar to numbers for the past several years.

In the curriculum report, assistant superintendent Beth Hollenkamp said preliminary IAR scores show growth in ELA each year. The district has completed year two with its current math curriculum and has seen growth in math scores, specifically in sixth and seventh grade.

Several personnel actions were taken at the meeting. The board accepted the resignations of Amber Roth as fifth grade teacher and Lance Boldt as Boys’ basketball coach. Carlie Kasten was transferred to Centralia Junior High School as mental Health support.

Hanna Schori was hired as fifth grade teacher, Jessica Jayne as girls’ varsity basketball coach, and Alyssa Hutton as girls’ JV basketball coach. Mike Morris was also hired as CJHS Scholar Bowl coach. A three-year contract extension was approved for Dr. Audrey Llewellyn-Hill.

A purchase for Chromebooks to replace outdated devices was approved at a cost not to exceed $48,013 and a contract with Frontline Education was approved for one year at a cost not to exceed $18,573.33.
