At Monday night’s Centralia City Council meeting, Economic Development Director Rob Jackson reported that the 12-year extension of Centralia’s TIF #3 District successfully passed through the Illinois state legislature as part of House Bill 1441 and now heads to the governor’s desk to be signed.
Jackson was tasked with extending the downtown TIF upon being hired as Economic Development Director last year and had to work quickly to ensure the extension could be approved before the TIF expired on June 30. Jackson credits state representative Charlie Meier and lobbyist Jeff Torricelli with providing assistance that was essential for getting the TIF extension on a House Bill.
