A 24-year-old Centralia man has been ordered held without bond after being charged in Marion County Court on Thursday with an incident where he chased a 14-year-old boy with a kitchen knife.
Brandon Watkins of South Pine was charged with domestic battery and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following the Wednesday incident at his home.
Centralia Police say Watkins became upset with the boy when he tried to break up a verbal argument between Watkins and his mother. Watkins allegedly grabbed a knife and began chasing the 14-year-old. Police say he eventually dropped the knife but then punched the 14-year-old in the stomach.
Watson was held without bond after Judge Ericka Sanders ruled there was a real and present danger to the boy since they were living in the same house. It was also noted Watson had just recently moved to the area.
Watson had a public defender appointed to represent him. He’s due back in court for a first appearance with counsel on June 25th.
