The Salem Wildcats opened up play in their High School Summer League with a double header at home against South Central. The Wildcats swept both games 9-3 and 13-3.
In the 9-3 opening win, Salem scored 7 runs in the first inning on their way to the win. Jax Schaubert was the winner allowing no hits and 2 runs over 4 innings. Luke Boldt worked in relief. Logan Butts and Zane Applegate doubled with Zane and Kyler King driving in 2 runs each along with Schubert. Owen Tennyson and Bentley Bryan added RBI. Luke Shumate singled and scored, Garret Shumate drove in a Cougar run. Ryker Dodson threw all 6 innings for SC.
Salem dominated the second game scoring six times in the opening inning on their way to the 13-3 victory. Logan Butts tripled, doubled and drove in 2 runs. Max Vincent added 2 RBI with runs driven in as well by Tennyson, King, Boldt, Damon Jennings, Trip Garden and Kaeden Cripps. Vincent was the winning pitcher allowing 4 hits and 3 earned runs in his 3 innings of work. Landen White worked 2 innings of relief. Colton Tockstein drove in 2 Cougar runs with a double. Dodson added an RBI single. Aiden Hoover and Ben Skibinski added hit.
