Salem Police arrested a mother and son for aggravated battery to a neighbor early Friday morning.
Chief Tyler Rose says 60-year-old Teresa Smith and 31-year-old Eric Smith of East Mitchell Street were arrested after allegedly shoving a neighbor at the edge of the street. Both were taken to the Marion County Jail to await court action.
Salem Police found the altercation on East Mitchell when responding to a domestic disturbance. Witnesses reported after a verbal argument, Teresa and Eric Smith walked over to near the property line where the shoving allegedly occurred.
The female neighbor was not injured.
Rose says it wasn’t clear to what started this altercation, but there had been a past history of problems between the neighbors.
The incident was first reported at 1:21 Friday morning.
