The Salem Community Band and Chorus will perform its summer concert this Friday night and Saturday afternoon.
The free performances at the Franklin Park gym are at seven Friday night and two Saturday afternoon.
One of the organizers of the group, Diane Sechrest, says the theme is Musical Memories.
“We have selected songs that evoke memories form the past. Some go way back, 40’s and even the 30’s. We have songs from the 50’s, and the 60’s, and the 70’s all the way into the 90’s. The songs we’ve chosen, we think will invoke memories of either, going to the movies and seeing a great movie, or listening to great music or even seeing a great band. Just various things that will evoke a memory of music.”
The band remains under the direction of Matt Webster and the chorus under the direction of Andrew Styninger. Folding chairs will be used, so you mightwant to bring a seat cushion.
While there is no charge, a free will offering will be taken.
