The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department reports a 40-year-old Mt. Vernon man was killed from injuries sustained when hit by a pickup truck on Wednesday night while walking on the 8300 block of North Route 148 outside Mt. Vernon.
Johnathan Hatch died from his injuries after being transported to a local hospital.
The driver of the pickup truck, 27-year-old Enouch Albright of Murphysboro, was not hurt.
Reports indicate Hatch was walking in the roadway and was not seen in time for the vehicle to avoid him.
State Police are still working on an accident reconstruction report at the request of the sheriff’s department.
The accident was reported at 9:51 p.m. on Wednesday.
