Both teams were strong on the mound on Wednesday, but North Clay/Clay City Varsity Cardinals defeated Greenville varsity comets 3-2. Ian Jones started the game for North Clay/Clay City Varsity Cardinals and recorded 12 outs.

 

North Clay/Clay City Varsity Cardinals got on the board in the bottom of the third inning after Trenton Ingram doubled to center field, and Trevan Sidwell hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.

 

Jones earned the win for North Clay/Clay City Varsity Cardinals. The starter surrendered five hits and one run over four innings, striking out four and walking two. Sussenbach took the loss for Greenville varsity comets. The pitcher went four innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits, striking out seven and walking four. Cody Zimdars collected the save. Sidwell appeared in relief for North Clay/Clay City Varsity Cardinals.

 

Cayden Craig, Sidwell, and Ingram each drove in one run for North Clay/Clay City Varsity Cardinals. Zimdars led North Clay/Clay City Varsity Cardinals with two hits in three at bats. Will Ballard led North Clay/Clay City Varsity Cardinals with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting six walks for the game.

 

Oliver and Hamel each collected two hits for Greenville varsity comets. Oliver and Riedemann each drove in one run for Greenville varsity comets.
