The Centralia High School Orphans wrapped up their South 7 Conference season on their home courts Wednesday, finishing third at the final conference tournament of the year.

Centralia was led by strong runner-up performances from Reed Ashford at No. 1 singles and Cash Meyer at No. 4 singles. Third-place finishes were added by Ethan Samples and Ogden Bennett in singles play, while the doubles teams of Justus Edson and Hunter Hixson, along with Trey Sloat and Jai Edson, also earned third-place finishes.

Carbondale Community High School claimed the conference championship by winning all six brackets and totaling 24 points. Marion High School narrowly edged Centralia 16-14 for second place.

Due to expected inclement weather on Friday, the IHSA has moved the Carbondale Sectional up to Thursday at 11 a.m.

Both Centralia and Salem Community High School will compete in the sectional tournament. Salem’s Jarrett Rushing enters as the No. 2 seed in singles, while the doubles team of Kyler Sapp and Caleb Squibb will compete as the No. 5 seed.
