Christ Our Rock Lutheran Varsity Stallions couldn’t keep up with Mater Dei and fell 12-2 on Wednesday.
Mater Dei got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Avery Strader grounded out, and Adrian Rendon hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.
An error, and a fly out by Jack Reynolds helped Mater Dei extend their early lead in the second.
Mater Dei scored two runs in the bottom of the third on a home run to left field by Kyler Von Bokel on an 0-2 count.
Christ Our Rock Lutheran Varsity Stallions scored two runs in the top of the fourth on a home run to left field by Brayden Albert.
Rendon homered to left field, scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth for the Mater Dei.
Colton Cartright led things off on the mound for Christ Our Rock Lutheran Varsity Stallions. The starter surrendered six hits and 10 runs (seven earned) over four and one-third innings, striking out one and walking three. Ethan Wheelan stepped on the hill first for Mater Dei. The hurler gave up three hits and two runs (one earned) over four innings, striking out four and walking none.
Albert provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Christ Our Rock Lutheran Varsity Stallions with two runs batted in. The left fielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Evan Beal led Christ Our Rock Lutheran Varsity Stallions with two hits in two at bats.
Von Bokel went 3-for-3 at the plate and led the team with four runs batted in.
