Salem Drops 20th Game of the Year, Host Altamont Today

Salem lost their 20th game of the season, falling at home to West Frankfort 10-5 to see their record at 7-20.  Logan Butts doubled twice going 3-3, Carter Lowe and Owen Tennyson also doubled as Salem was outhit 10-9.  Salem got RBI from Keytin Grawe, Carter Lowe, Aaden Rostance, Tennyson and Brendan Smith.  Lowe took the loss going 2 innings with Smith working the final 4.  The Wildcats return to action today when they host Altamont.


Cain/OPS Dominates Webber

Brady Cain drove in 4 runs on 4 hits to lead the OPS Eagles to a 16-6 win over Webber including a triple.  They broke the game open with 6 runs in the 3rd inning on just 2 hits.  Drew Haines went 4.2 allowing 3 earned runs.  Owen Caldwell worked in relief.  Austin Hoffman had 4 hits including 2 triples, as well.  Kyan Walker had 2 hits.  OPS will host Vandalia today.

Craig’s Big Game Lifts NC To Win #27

Cayden Craig drove in 4 runs as the North Clay Cardinals improved to 27-3 with a 10-0 shutout of Mater Dei.  Craig homered to right field in the opening inning to score 2 runs.  Trevan Sidwell earned the win allowing just 1 hit in his 5 innings of work with Craig working the final inning of relief.  Craig and Cody Zimdars each had 2 hits with Trenton Ingram and Jack Compton adding multiple hits.


Rams Come Back To Win

The Mt Vernon Rams are 17-12 after their 14-4 win over Gateway Legacy Christian Academy at Arsenal BG Ballpark, home of the Grizzlies.  The Rams trailed 3-1 until they scored 6 runs in the 4th and started to take over.  Nolan Mast, Ryker Perigo, Ty Pierce, Cale Maurer, Owen Burke and Bronx Hefner each had 2 hits for the Rams.  Pierce drove in 4 runs.  Eli Prost was the winning pitcher.  The Rams will play at Centralia today in South 7 action.


SC Shutout By Cumberland

Cumberland scored 4 runs in the second inning helping them beat South Central 6-0.  Luke Shumate and Colton Tockstein each had a Cougars hit.  Ryker Dodson pitched 4.2 innings of relief for SC for starter Aiden Hoover.  The Cougars are 7-18 on the year as they host Dieterich today.
