Wildcats Fall In Tight Game At Columbia, Host Eagles Today
The Wildcats fell to 7-19 on the season with a tight loss at Columbia 4-2. The Eagles took the lead 1-0 after the first inning and extended it to 4-0 after 4. The Cats would start a comeback in the final inning Owen Tennyson drove in 2 runs in the inning for the Salem scoring. Luke Boldt allowed 5 hits and 4 runs over 5 innings for the Wildcats. Carter Lowe threw out of the pen. The Salem Wildcats will make up their home baseball game today with Columbia.
Salem JV Walks Off On Columbia
Huck Mulvany singled home the walk-off run in the bottom of the 8th inning as Salem JV beat Columbia 5-4. Tripp Garden, Nicholi Marhanka and Mulvany combined for 6 of the teams 9 h its in the win and scored a run and drove in 3. Jax Schaubert was once again the winnier allowing 3 earned runs over 6.1. Rhett Starnes threw 1.2 innings of scoreless relief. Bentley Bryan added an RBI along with Damon Jennings. The JV is now 8-10.
SC Falls To Newton
The SC Cougars were in it until the end, but Newton scored 2 runs in the fifth on a single by Drake Wolf to earn a 4-2 win. Luke Shumate had 3 hits for SC. Ryker Dodson drove in 2 runs. Hudson Moore took the loss on the mound with Garrett Shumate getting the start working 4 innings. Colton Tockstein had 2 SC hits as well. The Cougars are at Edwards County today.
Spartans Win MTC Baseball Tournament
In the MTC Tournament baseball championship it was Waltonville beating Woodlawn 16-1. Downey hit 2 home runs and Devor hit another.
