Orphans Host Valmeyer, NC and SC In Tournament Play Today

The Centralia Orphans host a 4-team tournament today.  The opening round games start at 10am with Centralia and South Central as well as North Clay and Valmeyer.  The winners will play at noon for the championship at the same time the losers play for 3rd.


Rams Win Again

The Mt Vernon Rams knocked off Mattoon on the road 10-2.  Cale Maurer got the Rams on the board in the first with an RBI single.  Eli Prost drove in a run to make it 2-0 in the second.  The Rams weren’t done scoring 2 more runs on RBI from Maurer and Nolan Mast.  That was plenty for winning pitcher Maxwell Nowak who allowed no runs and no hits over 3.2 with 9 strikeouts.  Mast and Maurer each drove in 3 runs.  Ryker Perigo, Nowak and Pierce also had multiple hits.  Mt Vernon will host Murphysboro on Monday.


Wayne City Wins MTC Regular Season

Wayne City knocked off Waltonville 5-3 and finished the regular season in the Midland Trail Conference undefeated going 6-0.  It’s their first conference baseball title since 1978.
