Salem 13U Wildcats went 2-2 over the weekend. On Saturday, they dropped game 1 to the Midwest Iron Lions 16-6. Zach Jones led the offense with 2 hits including a double and 3 rbis. Isaac Knapp had two hits, Nolan Krutsinger doubled while Izac Holsapple, Jacob Butts, Kaden Williams, and Maxsen Tiemann all singled.
The Wildcats bounced back in game 2 on Saturday with a 11-7 win over Stew Stras. Holsapple had 2 hits including a double and 2 rbis. Butts had a long bases clearing double while Williams also doubled twice. Knapp and Krutsinger also had hits. Weston Crouse got the win on the mound going 4 innings with only 1 earned run and 2 strikeouts.
On Sunday, the Wildcats dropped game 1 to a tough Mattoon squad 10-0. Knapp and Brantley Brumfield doubled while Krutsinger and Ethan Parrett each singled.
The Wildcats once again bounced back and won game 2 of the day with a 9-2 win over the South Central Storm Chasers. Krutsinger, Williams, and Brumfield each had 2 hits on the day including a double for each. Butts and Tiemann both had long doubles while Knapp and Holsapple both singled. Krutsinger got the win on the bump going 4 innings with only 2 hits allowed and 5 strikeouts. Williams closed it out with a scoreless inning with 2 strikeouts.
The Wildcats are back in action next Sunday with a doubleheader at Newton.
