Charles Joseph Lane Jr., Chuck to those who knew him well, was born in Madison, Wisconsin on April 27, 1960.
He was raised in Centralia, Illinois, where he enjoyed fishing with his father in his youth. During Chuck’s young adult years, he enjoyed drag racing with his friends. He wasn’t afraid to go FAST, and if it had a motor, he loved to see how fast he could get it to go.
Chuck was a “Jack of all trades”, which started when he worked for his father’s business, laying flooring. At the age of twenty-five, he married Teresa Horton, and they gave birth to his only son, Joseph. Later in life, Chuck became an avid deer hunter and continued to fish and partake in other hunting adventures.
Chuck gave his life to Jesus Christ in the middle part of his life and continued in his faith until his last breath. Chuck enjoyed woodworking, building, and fixing many things. He was able to build his own home before being diagnosed with cancer, along with additional health complications. He spent the last 16 months of his life in South Carolina with his youngest brother, Scott, and even though Scott was younger than Chuck, he always looked up to him for having served our country as a Marine. Chuck put up a good fight with his cancer; unfortunately, with many other health battles going on at the same time, he succumbed to his illness on December 2, 2025.
Chuck was preceded in death by his father, “Joe” Charles Joseph Lane Sr. and his mother, Barbara Jean Lane.
Chuck is survived by his son, Joseph, daughter-in-law, Amy, and granddaughters, Ellie and Lila; brothers, Gary and Scott; sisters, Robin and Dee, along with nine nieces and nephews, and nineteen great-nieces and nephews.
Special thanks go to Chuck’s brother, Scott, and his wife, Leslie.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2026, at the Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia. Relatives and friends are welcome to a visitation time to offer condolences to, and share memories of Chuck with his family from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home in Centralia.
