Salem Police arrested a 39-year-old Salem man for aggravated battery to a police officer after he allegedly closed the door on the foot of a patrolman several times as he was refused entry to talk to a resident who had called 911 about a domestic battery. Brooks Foster of Cope Drive was taken to the Marion County Jail to await a final decision on charges and a first appearance in court.
Salem Police arrested 33-year-old Troy Grantham of Illinois Route 37 in Salem for alleged assault. He is accused of threatening another man in an argument outside Discount Tobacco on Westgate Avenue. Grantham was released on a notice to appear in court.
An Iuka man was arrested by Salem Police for criminal trespass. Matthew Harris of Iuka Road was spotted walking on Route 37 South. Police checked to see if he was wanted and learned he had the outstanding criminal trespass charge from the Salem Walmart Store late last year.
Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating the theft of a motorcycle from a garage of a home in the 2900 block of Nation Road in rural Salem.
The sheriff’s department also received a report of an ignition switch being stolen from the car of a Sandoval residence in the 200 block of South Pearl sometime before ten Sunday morning.
Illinois State Conservation Police are handling a Sunday accident where a vehicle rolled into the Forbes State Park lake at the East Boat Ramp and was submerged in the water. The vehicle was being used to remove a boat from the lake when it went in the water for an unknown reason.
