The North Clay Cardinals won the South Central Wood Bat Tournament finishing undefeated on the weekend. They beat SC on Saturday afternoon to clinch the title 10-0. Former SC Cougar Trevan Sidwell was the winning pitcher allowing just 4 hits over 4 innings of work against his former club. Luke Shumate had 2 SC hits. Cody Zimdars drove in 2 Cardinal runs. The Cardinals are 16-3 on the season.
They opened Saturday with a 10-0 win over Flora using a six run 3rd inning. Cooper Lewis homered in the inning. Jack Compton gave up no hits in the 5 inning complete game with 9 strikeouts. Ian Jones and Trent Ingram had 2 hits each with Lewis driving in 3 runs.
The Cougars opened their Saturday with a 5-0 loss to Woodlawn. Aiden Hoover took the loss allowing just 4 earned runs in his complete game. Luke Shumate, Hudson Moore and Colton Tockstein had SC hits.
Breese Central snapped Mascoutah’s 14 game win streak with a tight 2-1 ballgame at Mascoutah’s brand-new stadium on their campus. Miles Browne gave up just 1 run on 3 hits in 4.2 with 6 strikeouts and Lincoln Radake took over from there not allowing a hit. Central improved to 14-3 on the season.
Jason Kreke hit a solo homer but it wasn’t enough as TTown fell to Tolono Unity 7-6 in a tight ballgame throughout.
