Lowe’s Grand Slam Keys Big 1st Inning In Salem Rout of Wood River
Carter Lowe hit a grand slam as Salem was scoring 12 runs in the opening inning and they beat visiting Wood River 14-0. The Cats didn’t make their first out of the game until the 14th batter in the first. Luke Boldt drove in 2 with RBI from Hudson Gambill, Logan Butts, Brenden Smith and Brody Collier. Keytin Grawe was the winning pitcher giving up no hits and no runs over 2 innings. Salem improves to 4-13 as they will host 11-1 Fairfield today in a makeup game before traveling to Robinson tomorrow for a double header with Robinson and Mt Zion.
SC Falls At Arsenal Ballpark
The SC Cougars played Windsor/Stew-Stras at Arsenal Ballpark in Sauget, the home of the Gateway Grizzlies, with the Hatchets coming out on top 10-3. Aidan Hoover went 2-4 at the plate to lead SC. Hudson Moore and Hoover each drove in a run. Moore took the loss going 4.1 allowing 7 earned on 8 hits. SC will take on Flora today.
Mt Vernon Beats Carbondale Behind Nowak’s Perfect Game
Mt Vernon finished up the conference sweep of Carbondale with a 10-0 win yesterday. Maxwell Nowak threw the 5-inning perfect game as he improved to 3-2.Ty Pierce doubled and drove in 2, Jay Webb added 2 RBI, Ryker Perigo scored twice and drove in a run, Eli Prost also had 2 RBI. The Rams are 9-6 overall and 3-1 in the South 7.
