The Centralia City Schools Board of Education approved the school calendar for the 2026-27 school year at its regular meeting on Tuesday. Teachers will return to school on August 13, and the first day of school for students will be August 14. The last day of school will be May 20 for students and May 21 for teachers.
The board authorized the superintendent to begin the search process for a district architect. The district does not currently have any major construction projects in the works, but the architect would work with the district on future projects.
A three-year contract was renewed with Samsara/Transfinder for school bus GPS services.
The board accepted the resignations of Shaina Hocking as Centralia Junior High scholar bowl coach and homebound teacher, Alexis Berryman as Centralia Junior High speech-language pathologist, and Martha Gray as Schiller School paraprofessional.
Amanda Barbee was hired as an early childhood teacher for the 2026-27 school year.
Amanda Johnston was transferred to 3rd grade teacher at Jordan beginning in the 2026-27 school year.
Letters of intent to retire were accepted from Cami Wheelan-Dorries effective at the end of the 2029-30 school year and from Tracy DeVore effective at the end of the 2025-26 school year.
