A Sandoval home is a total loss following a late Sunday afternoon fire.
Sandoval Fire Chief Scott Towler says Danny Seats was at his residence at 912 West Missouri Avenue when he discovered the fire. He was able to get out safely.
Towler says a State Deputy Fire Marshal has been called to determine the cause of the fire that appeared to have started in the breezeway area between the garage and the home.
Towler says the fire rapidly spread in the attic and along the roofline due to the extremely strong winds.
While the concrete walls of the home are still standing, the attic and ceiling collapsed, and items inside the home were destroyed.
Sandoval Firemen received mutual aid assistance from the Centralia City, Centralia District, and Odin Firemen, while Marion County Emergency Management Agency provided traffic control. Smoke was blowing across US 50, reducing traffic to one way.
The fire call came in at 3:43 Sunday afternoon, with firemen on the scene until 7:13 Sunday evening.
