Glen Michael “Boink” Beckmann, age 60 of Bartelso and Covington, passed away at his home on Thursday, February 26, 2026.
Glen was born in Breese, Illinois, on April 14, 1965, the son of Alois and Margie (Loepker) Beckmann. He was well known for his colorful vocabulary, his vibrant personality, and as a man who truly worked hard and played just as hard. Glen felt most at home outdoors, whether he was fishing along the Kaskaskia River, hunting in the timber, or riding his four-wheeler with friends. A skilled carpenter, he proudly worked for Rehkemper and Son for the past eleven years and was a member of Carpenters Union Local 662 in Freeburg, Illinois.
Glen leaves behind his siblings, Debbie Schomaker of New Baden, Nancy Griesbaum and husband David of Okawville, Sandy Rehkemper and husband Mike of New Baden, Allen Beckmann and wife Laura of Bartelso, and Joyce Schomaker and husband Dale of New Baden; his nieces and nephews, Nick and Anita, Randy and Kelly, Paula and Curt, Jennifer and Josh, Jessie and Dusty, Jacob and Amber, Tricia, Amy, Karlee and Austin, Nathan and Jennifer, Allyn and Nick, Casey, Brent and Nicole, Blake and Marlina, and Tommy; along with several great nieces and great nephews. Boink will also be deeply missed by his many good friends at the Shanty and by his work buddies.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alois and Margie Beckmann; a sister, Jackie Beckmann; a brother in law, Stan Schomaker; and a nephew, Brad Rehkemper.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 4:00 PM at River’s Bend, 18772 Kaskaskia Road, Okawville, Illinois 62271. The Beckmann family will greet family and friends prior to the service on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at River’s Bend.
In lieu of flowers and other gifts, the family suggests memorial donations in memory of Glen to the Jared Burke Foundation or to the wishes of the family.
