The Centralia Orphans made it 2 wins in less than 24 hours over state ranked teams as they beat Waltonville Saturday afternoon at the Pinckneyville Shootout 60-47 to improv to 24-1 on the season.

Archie Goewey led Centralia with 17 and was named the game’s Most Valuable Player. Devin Meier and Jaxson Hancock each had 10 and Kenny Bratton 8 for Centralia.  Witten Devor had a big game for the Spartans with a game high 25.

The Mt Vernon Rams put up a fight, but nationally ranked Principia closed down the Shootout with an impressive 73-47 win. Mt Vernon was led by David Barnes with 23 and Cale Maurer added 11.  Coleman finished with 21 to lead Principia and Money added 16.  Mt Vernon is 17-6 on the season.

Columbia High School’s Eddie Smajik was held in check with just 2 points as the Eagles game with Pinckneyville was winding down, but great players show up in great moments, and “Easy” Eddie hit a three as time was running out to lift Columbia over the hosts 47-45.
