The Salem City Council Monday night will be asked to move forward on reconstruction of Airport Road and allowing the Salem Police Department to join the new Downstate Major Case Squad.

The council will consider an engineering services agreement with Gonzalez Companies, LLC for preliminary engineering for both Phase 1 and 2 of Airport Road improvements.  The city has received a grant to complete the work.

Parking on the east side of the 100 block of North Washington Street downtown will also be discussed.  A new coffee and sandwich shop operated by Alex and Abby Williams is requesting two ‘to-go order parking’ in the block.   City staff wants to study the parking needs and draft an ordinance outlining proposed solutions related to time limited parking needs and solutions.

Members of the council will be asked to read and sign or re-take the Illinois Municipal League Civility Pledge.

The meeting begins at six Monday night at Salem City Hall.
