Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested a 31-year-old Dahlgren woman for murder in connection with the shooting death of a 47-year-old Dahlgren man.

Jasmine Farny reportedly knew murder victim James D. Cross and had a past dating relationship.  Farny was first interviewed on Sunday evening and again on Monday afternoon when she was incarcerated in the Jefferson County Jail to await a pretrial detention hearing for First Degree Murder.

The sheriff’s department began its investigation after receiving an initial call that Cross’s body had been found deceased in the parking lot in the 21800 block of East Bonnie Road in rural Belle Rive.    Cross had reportedly been shot multiple times.

Assisting Sheriff’s Deputies and Detectives were Detectives from the Mt. Vernon Police Department, Jefferson County Coroner Roger Hayse, Jefferson County State’s Attorney Patrick Costa, Crime Scene Technicians from the Illinois State Police, and agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The Sheriff thanks each agency for its assistance, which helped bring this case to a successful conclusion relatively quickly.
