The Class M girls basketball state tournament opened on Friday. Nashville beat Wayne City 45-12, Smithton beat Maryville Christian 36-19, Goreville lost to Okawville 50-24 and Breese All Saints beat Anna 46-20.
The semifinals have been moved to this Saturday at 9:30 with Nashville and Smithton followed at 10:45 by Okawville and All Saints Academy.
The Class L quarterfinals that were canceled for Saturday will be played Thursday. DuQuoin and Flora will play at 3:30, Harrisburg and Herrin at 4:45, Wesclin and Belle Valley at 6 and then at 7:15 it’s West Belleville and Hamilton County. The semifinals will be on Saturday with the trophy games held Tuesday February 3.
The Class S opening round will be Friday with Albers/Damiansville taking on New Simpson Hill at 3:30, followed by Meridian and New Hope, then Holy Childhood Mascoutah takes on St Peter & Paul followed by Summersville and TSJ Nashville. Their semifinals will be held on Saturday and the trophy games Monday, February 2nd.
